Create musical sounds from NASA derrived solar flare data. Using python on Linux the numbers in .csv cells became frequencies to be played by software created synthesizer. The artist took the raw file and used Ableton to end up with the feel they were after. It became part of a sound and video installation, with the video being images of the solar flares that the data was linked to. The images and flare information were taken from NASA archives at the moment the artist was born.
Reconstruction of Raspberry Pi for multi unit installation. Several years prior, units had been configured by someone else but they are no longer available. I stepping in, decoded previous work and reconfigured for currently available hardware. Raspberry Pi, 3.5inch touch screen, Adafruit FreqShow and RTL-SDR frequency scanner.
Unit suspended by cable and rotates. During rotation the sensor detects other parts of the sculpture and enits a variable synthesized sound. Raspberry Pi with ultrasonic sensor sound generator.
Audience partipation. Audience member picks up ceramic sculpture and walks towards main sculpture of installation to generate sounds based on direction and proximity. Arduino with ultrasonic sensor, electronic compass and custom audio output module.
Arduino with ultrasonic sensor to emulate a geigger counter for art installation.
Raspberry Pi video camera, ultrasonic sensor and 7-inch display mounted behind two-way mirror – think Rene Magritte
MP3 player that auto-runs on a loop with selectable delay between repeats
MP3 player activated when an ashes urn is held with speaker inside the urn
MP3 player activated by proximity sensor with speaker mounted inside a rice cooker.
MP3 player activated when a trumpet is stroked, speaker hidden inside the trumpet case.
MP3 player activated when ceramic sculptures are touched, speakers mounted inside the sculptures.
